I MADE IT! After what seems like the longest plane ride ever! we finally made it! we had 4 plane switches along the way: Denver, Washington DC, Vienna, and then finally to Tel Aviv, Israel. all together it was about 29 hours of travel!
The center here is unreal! so beautiful! the view from my room is seriously amazing! it looks kind of like the part on Aladin the Disney movie where he takes Jasmine up on his roof and shows her the view. haha that is the closest thing i can think of that would compare. its beautiful! And all the students here as awesome! everyone is so friendly and wants to get to know you! i love it!
we went on a tour of the city today, and all i can say is CULTURE SHOCK! there were nuns, muslims in head scarfs, muslims in full veil only showing their eyes, Jews, Orthodox Jews who have curls by their ears, big beards, and wear hats, and men in all types of dress. I definitely was not in America anymore. I just wanted to stop and stare at everyone! but you can't make eye contacts with them so that is difficult. The Old city of Jerusalem is like walking through a time machine and coming out 200 years ago. it was unlike anything i have ever seen before! Me and a few other people got seperated from our group as we tried to pass through a narrow gate because half went through and just as we were about to follow a Palestine and a Jew started full on fighting! hitting each other with canes, grabing each others throats, and shoving each other into the wall! We had to stop and wait for them to calm down before we could pass, so we just sat and watched them try and hurt each other, it was nuts!
First day = AWESOME! Jet Lag is real...
That is great! Love the blog and emails! Hate that I can't call you up!

ReplyDeleteLa that is so awsome! Is it the Palistines and the Jews who are always fighting or was that just some random fight... either way that is CRAZY!
