phone calls

I used to receive phone calls consisting of a conversation somewhat like this: "hey want to go to Zupas for dinner? Are you still on campus? Ok cool, i'll just see ya later then. oh by the way i saw a really cute boy in the library today, but i just walked by him and didn't say anything. Ok bye." 

Now i receive phone calls like this: "Lauren where exactly are you located? you and everyone with you needs to come back to the center immediately. there is trouble at the Temple Mt. and there has been a shooting and tear gas released. return immediately."

I live in the Middle East.
